According to members of the Committee, such a group would afford an opportunity for "Macon business and professional women" to gather for a regular luncheon, communicate with each other and hear a speaker talk on a topic of interest or concern.
In order to broaden the scope of the group, the Committee decided to make Career Women's Network of Macon an autonomous organization with its own set of by-laws and procedures. CWN was founded in 1981 and was incorporated December 9, 1982 with Joanna Watson as the first President of CWN. The very first CWN meeting was held on October 9, 1982. The organization currently operates through an 18 member Board of Directors.
Career Women's Network of Macon aims to provide a strong network of professional contacts. The organization promotes and encourages members to become effective and visible community leaders; it also supports continuing education and professional development of women. One of the main objectives is to acknowledge the achievements and contributions of professional women in the community.
We invite you to visit us or attend an event. Our members are more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the organization and how you can join.
CWN holds luncheon meetings on the first Tuesday* of each month at 12:00 noon. A program follows featuring interesting and informative speakers, including civic and business leaders from Macon and Middle Georgia. An occasional "networking" luncheon replaces a formal presentation. These are popular substitutes which offer an opportunity for communication about the real business of the organization.
Special events are arranged throughout the year for the enjoyment of the members.
